ZAZ: The Best Thing Out of France Since Crêpes!

Isabelle Geffroy! I had not dabbled much in French music before I was introduced to this magnificent performer and boy had I been missing out. She is better known by her nickname Zaz. Her unique combination of jazzy styles, French variety, soul and acoustic music will have you dancing around in a passionate frenzy. She is famous for her hit "Je veux", from her first album, Zaz, released in May 2010. Though she has an incredible singing voice, I tend to marvel over her lively personality and her impeccable scatting techniques! Hands down, my favorite song in her discography is “Les Passants”. Check it out! I encourage you to listen to the entire album.

The Tallest Man on Earth: Best of the New Generation of Folk!

I tend to think of this remarkable musician as a neo-Dylan. His real name is Kristian Matsson. Though he is a native of Dalarna, Sweden, he composes his songs in English. He plays guitar, banjo, and piano with a very advanced technique. Since 2006 he has released two full-length albums and two EPs that I would genuinely recommend to anyone and everyone. He performs under the moniker The Tallest Man on Earth, though in reality he is not the tallest man on the Earth. He is an absolutely amazing lyricist and his finger picking is bewildering! He is one of those musicians that can radiate the feel of a full band from one instrument. Watch this video of his song “The Gardener” and prepare to be astonished!
